Manufacturer: Zydus Cadila
Pharmaceutical name: Dexamethasone
Pack: 100 pills (0.5 mg)
Dexamethasone, a type of corticosteroid, mimics a natural hormone that your adrenal glands produce. It is commonly prescribed to replace this hormone when your body doesn’t produce sufficient amounts. It alleviates inflammation (including swelling, heat, redness, and pain) and is utilized in the treatment of specific arthritis types; skin, blood, kidney, eye, thyroid, and intestinal disorders (like colitis); severe allergic reactions; and asthma. Dexona Solutab is also indicated for treating certain cancers.
Dexona Solutab is available in both tablet form and as an oral solution. Your physician will provide a dosing schedule tailored to your needs. Carefully adhere to the instructions on your prescription label, and consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or uncertainties.
Administer Dexona Solutab precisely as instructed. Do not alter the dosage or frequency compared to what your doctor has prescribed.
Do not discontinue Dexona Solutab without first consulting your physician. Abruptly stopping the medication can lead to loss of appetite, stomach upset, vomiting, drowsiness, confusion, headaches, fever, joint and muscle aches, skin peeling, and weight loss. If you have been on high doses for an extended time, your doctor will likely reduce your dose gradually to help your body adjust before fully discontinuing the medication.
Be attentive to these side effects while you are gradually lowering your dose and after you have stopped taking the tablets or liquid, even if you switch to an inhalation corticosteroid. Should any of these issues arise, contact your doctor immediately. It may be necessary to temporarily increase your tablet or liquid dosage or resume taking them.
